New Class Offering: Soma Yoga for Low Back Pain

This isn't your typical yoga class. In this class, we combine somatics with therapeutic and classic yoga poses to help you gain a sense of internal awareness and the ability to recognize patterns of tension in your body that lead to low back pain. This course is designed specifically to help you recognize dysfunctional patterns of movement, learn how to slowly lengthen and release muscles without stretching, and explore gentle movements to find relief from pain through neuromuscular re-education. Poses will be adapted for each individual student with options for floor, wall, chair, and/or floor poses depending on attendee ability and level of pain.

Are you wondering if this is just another thing that won’t 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 make any difference in your back pain? Interestingly, a study has recently been released showing the positive outcomes of practicing somatics along with yoga, and that’s 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 what this class will teach you how to do on your own at home. Check out the study at tinyurl.com/lowbacksomatics

$20 drop-in class rate for a 90-minute class with Danielle who is currently a SomaYoga Therapist in Training at Yoga North International SomaYoga Institute in Duluth, MN. Classes will be held at Fresh Coast Yoga in Houghton, MI on Tuesdays at 7:00pm on the following dates: January 10, January 17, January 24, January 31, February 7, and February 21.
